Atherton Residence

Atherton is known for its grand estates and generous plots making it one of the Peninsula’s most sought-after locations for luxury interior design. Our longtime clients engaged us to help reimagine their traditional 1920’s home in Atherton to better suit their contemporary style. We embarked on a high-end renovation with Ari Gessler Architects to open up rooms to the outdoors and create a better flow for their young family. The original architectural details provided a beautiful backdrop for a mix of contemporary and transitional furnishings; creating a home that felt both sophisticated and livable for family life. This luxury Atherton home features a formal dining room with a vintage mid-century table paired with a custom hand-knotted rug and sculptural chairs upholstered in a luxe wool. Our interior designers selected an abstract Robert Kingston painting from Dolby Chadwick Gallery in muted tones to add movement and interest to the space. Peacock blue tones are carried throughout the formal living room and into the powder room which features hand-painted walls by Caroline Lizarraga. The moody library doubles as a luxurious and contemporary home office with a generous seating area accented with modern furniture, a silk rug, bespoke sectional and vintage artwork. A floating walnut and stone vanity sits in front of deep charcoal herringbone walls in the modern and masculine powder room.

The kitchen design merges tradition and modernity, with a custom steel hood, rich walnut tones and contemporary lighting. A casual eating area is grounded by a walnut and steel table and wipeable leather chairs for meals with young kids. A custom designed sectional sofa provides plenty of seating in the family room, while swivel chairs allow for easy conversation with the kitchen area and for enjoying the garden views. Our Atherton interior designers created an enveloping and moody retreat in the primary bedroom with color drenched wall paneling and moldings and luxurious fabrics and a silk rug. A sculptural, contemporary tub sets the tone in the primary bathroom accented with patterned marble flooring.

This project showcases our expertise in high-end Atherton interior design, blending contemporary sensibilities with the architectural heritage that makes Peninsula homes so special. If you’re considering a renovation in Atherton, Woodside, or surrounding Peninsula communities, we’d love to discuss how we can help transform your home.
