San Francisco Pied-à-terre

The Niche Interiors team collaborated with Jennifer Tulley Architects to create a modern and sophisticated home on the top of San Francisco’s Russian Hill neighborhood. The homeowners were drawn to light, neutral colors and sculptural, modern furniture pieces. Our interior designers selected a muted palette of whites, greys, and lilac to mix with mid-century inspired furniture to create a serene space to entertain and enjoy the amazing San Francisco bay views. An elegant curved Vladimir Kagan sofa was the starting point for the design of the formal living room, allowing ample flow and orienting the focus on the sweeping views. A carved wool rug from Tai Ping Carpets grounds the space, adding movement and interest while maintaining a monochromatic color scheme. Mid-century Italian-inspired armchairs upholstered in ivory sit in front of the monolithic marble fireplace, paired with a luxe, sculptural side table.

Floor to ceiling sheer drapery panels draw attention to the generous height in the dining room, which looks out over redwood trees. Molded plywood Cherner chairs add sculptural forms while a glass Bocci chandelier floats above. The views of the San Francisco Bay take center stage in the primary bedroom, which features textural wallpaper, a custom upholstered bed and modern lighting. Contemporary armchairs with exposed wood frames provide a spot to lounge and take in the views.
