When the Niche Interiors team was given carte blanche to design a chic bachelorette pad we couldn’t have been more excited to get started! Our San Francisco interior design team was fortunate to have worked with this amazing client on another home so we already had a clear sense of her style. The architecture of this 1930’s home has classical French influences which we took inspiration from with the interior design scheme. Our client wanted a sophisticated yet playful home packed with bold hues and a dash of Parisian cool girl vibes.
We started with an adventurous color palette of mulberry, teal and lilac hues, mixing in modern furniture and plenty of pattern throughout the home. Steel and glass doors open up into the foyer which is wallpapered in a metallic pattern, leading into the moody media room. A hand-painted ceiling steals the show in the media room, complimented with walls painted in a deep raspberry hue and a custom mobile chandelier by John Pomp. Our designers opted to paint the walls, built-ins and trim in Benjamin Moore’s Bourbon Street for a more dramatic and enveloping effect. A loungey sofa is paired with petite, modern armchairs and an organic shaped coffee table by Holly Hunt.
Bespoke lighting, contemporary artwork and sculptural furniture mingle in the living and dining rooms. A glossy vintage coffee table grounds the living room seating area and references the lacquer light fixture overhead. The peacock blue velvet sofa picks up on the cabinet color in the open plan kitchen which was transformed with deep teal paint, modern lighting and brass hardware. The raspberry hue continues on this level with luxe armchairs upholstered in a cut velvet pattern. A custom rug by French company Atelier Fevrier features abstract shapes and mixes various weaving techniques to create a textural groundwork for the living room. A bespoke banquette in the kitchen nook provides a comfortable place to enjoy a morning coffee, with a gallery wall of mid-century artwork above.
In the formal dining room a walnut and bronze dining table is paired with an oversized modern “Tryst” chandelier designed by Paul Matter. The sculptural dining chairs nod to mid-century design, with upholstery in a navy and champagne boucle. An abstract painting by female artist Dorota Jedrusik hangs above a contemporary walnut and marble sideboard. The primary bedroom incorporates our client’s love of purple with an organic custom bed upholstered in a rich, patterned velvet. A moody, luxurious hand-knotted silk rug, bronze upholstered bench and hand-blown glass sconce complete the space.
