Pacific Heights Home | Luxury Interior Design

Built in the 1920s this Spanish Revival residence in Pacific Heights has long been one of San Francisco’s most striking homes, recently renovated to meet the demands of contemporary luxury living. The result is a masterful blend of classic architecture and contemporary design, with the traditional facade remaining and the interior spaces turned into open, light-filled rooms. Our Pacific Heights interior designers created a contemporary formal living room with a blend of modern furniture, luxe fabrics and lacquer and brass finishes. Contemporary artwork from Dolby Chadwick Gallery outfit the space.

The renovation retained the home’s classic exterior presence while completely reimagining the interior to prioritize openness, natural light, and seamless indoor-outdoor flow. The redesign optimized the space with a sense of openness, comfort and elegance, with Bay and Alcatraz views from all levels. Where traditional Spanish Revival homes typically feature compartmentalized rooms and intimate spaces, this iteration opens up the main floor into a great room concept with a state-of-the-art kitchen finished in custom walnut cabinetry, high-end European appliances, and direct access to Bay views.

An oversized sectional sofa provides seating for the entire family and takes advantage of the incredible bay views. An organic wool rug with a brushstroke pattern grounds the seating area, which a custom built-in bench and table maximize seating in the casual breakfast nook.

Formal dining room

The formal dining room in this Pacific Heights home exemplifies contemporary luxury through its balance of texture, warmth, and sculptural design. The dramatic wall treatment in deep charcoal creates an enveloping backdrop that adds sophisticated depth without overwhelming the space, while the clean-lined modern chandelier with brass accents provides both functional lighting and a striking focal point that draws the eye upward. The custom walnut dining table grounds the room with organic warmth, its book-matched wood grain offering natural beauty that contrasts beautifully against the ivory upholstered dining chairs. Natural light floods in through overhead skylights, preventing the dark walls from feeling heavy while highlighting the room’s luxurious materials.

Primary bedroom

The primary bedroom embodies serene contemporary luxury, where a carefully curated palette of soft blues, warm neutrals, and subtle textures creates a calming retreat that maximizes the spectacular San Francisco Bay views. The floor-to-ceiling windows frame the cityscape, while elegant drapery in coordinating gray adds privacy without sacrificing the room’s connection to the outdoors. Grasscloth wallcovering wraps the space in organic texture, catching light throughout the day and adding texture that prevents the cool color palette from feeling sterile. The plush silk area rug grounds the seating area and softens the room, while a mid-century inspired armchair and ottoman provide a reading nook in the corner.
