Luxe Magazine: Perch Perfect

The Niche team is celebrating big this month – our Telegraph Hill project was just featured in the May/June issue of Luxe magazine…and, it got the cover! We worked closely with the talented architecture team at Lundberg Design to ensure that the furnishings blended seamlessly with the modern design of this incredible home.

Taking cues from the steel and glass light well, we designed a walnut and lucite dining table that appears to float in the space. The formal living room has a restrained palette and a mix of sculptural, modern furniture and luxe fabrics including mohair and velvet.

A bolder, more playful color scheme in the family room references the bay views, with a modern sectional from B&B Italia and vintage Milo Baughman armchairs reupholstered in a snappy green velvet. The office features an oversized table that functions as a desk and a casual dining area. A big thank you to Luxe magazine for the feature! Striking Balance: Modern Luxury Interiors

We’re excited to share our latest editorial feature in the April issue of Modern Luxury Interiors!

“Perched at the top of a hill on a beautiful block in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood, Alfred and Rebecca Lin’s home has some of the most desirable views an urban setting can afford.”

“Throughout, the design strikes a masculine and feminine balance – bold, metallic flourishes blended with modern, rectilinear pieces. The look changes from room to room, yet tells a cohesive story and truly captures the Lin’s day-to-day lifestyle and personal tastes. Mission accomplished!”

A Home in the Clouds

We’re excited to share our latest press coverage on Rue Daily!

“Designing homes that “bring high-end design down to earth,” Niche Interiors consistently delivers work that doesn’t sacrifice style for comfort. Case in point? A recent project for a young couple moving back to San Francisco from New York City. The pair loved the prime Pacific Heights location and fantastic city views, but wanted to personalize the space and make it their own. Niche created a calm, airy space with a mix of traditional details, custom upholstery and statement lighting.”  – Rue Magazine

Most importantly, our clients are thrilled with their new home! Testimonials like these make our job so rewarding:

“Jen and her team at Niche Interiors listened to our ideas, understood our style, and helped us transform our empty home in Pacific Heights into a beautiful and relaxing space. They were so easy to work with and went out of their way to make the process as simple as possible. We would highly recommend Niche Interiors for any project (and already have to several friends)!”   – Homeowners

New Year, New Office!

The Niche team is delighted to kick off 2016 in our beautiful new office in Potrero Hill!

When we first saw this space a few months ago it had seen better days, from the dingy carpet to the brown wall heaters, it was in need of some major design TLC. New wide plank oak floors and a fresh coat of white paint (Benjamin Moore White Dove for the win) and the space immediately felt bigger and brighter.

We furnished the space with a mix of retail, vintage, and custom pieces. Artwork from Minted mixes with flea market finds to create a gallery wall above IKEA Besta cabinets. Bookcases from CB2 house our library of design books and material samples.

A spiral staircase leads up to the conference room where we installed picture ledges to display over sized photos of our projects. The custom work table from San Francisco’s own Varian Designs (above right) is our favorite spot to gather and brainstorm.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy and creative 2016!

Going Glam in SOMA!

We recently wrapped up a fun project in SOMA – a glam condo that’s perfect for relaxing and entertaining.  Our clients turned to Niche Interiors to help soften the modern lines of their new space and to create a cozy and welcoming new home. Judging by our clients thrilled reactions, I think we succeeded!

First, we painted over the brick red walls with a wispy dove gray, which immediately made the space feel larger and more airy. We added a statement chandelier over the dining table and designed a custom banquette to maximize seating in a small space.

A large rug grounds the seating area and custom drapery panels add softness and elongate the room.

A tufted headboard mingles with metallics and soft geometric patterns in the luxe master bedroom.

Behind the Scenes: A Surprise Design Makeover

As many of you know, the Niche team has been busy working with The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Houzz to re-design the home of a firefighter struggling with ALS. We designed a cozy new living room for the family and surprised them with makeovers for their two young daughters’ rooms, as well as their master bedroom.

The Ellen Show Reveal Home Makeover

We had 3 days to completely overhaul this space – we started by painting all the rooms and the fireplace, installing new fans and light fixtures and new window treatments. The new furniture in the living room provides a more comfortable and welcoming space for the family while maintaining ample room for the husband’s wheelchair.

Next, all the furniture and industrial accessories from the Houzz Shop were moved in to create the rustic, casual space that the family wanted. As a special gift, the Niche team commissioned a reclaimed wood tray and coasters from a San Francisco woodworker – proudly showing off the husband’s Engine 32 logo.

Lynn and I each tackled a girl’s bedroom, applying removable decals to give the rooms an easy and fun update. Those pinwheel designs that Lynn created are my favorite detail!

After much anticipation, the family was thrilled with their new rooms! We were honored to be involved with this makeover and to be able to help this incredible family. Be sure to watch the reveal episode here.
