We had the good fortune to hear Jonathan Adler speak at the San Francisco Design Center last week – what a hoot! It’s so refreshing to meet such a candid soul with an irreverent, jolly approach to decorating and design. Besides admitting he is a “brassaholic” (love that!) he stressed that his work was about “style, craft, and joy.” Those principles definitely shine through in his designs…
Clockwise from Top Left: Utopia Sun Sculpture, Whale Bookends, Whitaker Ottoman, Mod Love Pillow, Meurice Chandelier.
Adler: “When design is good it looks like it was just supposed to be that way.” We couldn’t agree more. His design of the retro-chic Parker hotel fits right in with the mid-century architecture and mod vibe of Palm Springs.

Adler has turned a few carefully designed ceramic vases into quite an empire. We noticed he had a huge booth at NYIGF last month when we were waltzing through. He’s done TV and offered advice through print media and has really become a household name. Even if we aren’t in love with his style, we absolutely admire his business sense and ability to adapt to changing trends.
