Grasscloth is back, and it’s groovier than ever. The woven wallcovering is popping up everywhere-
Applying grasscloth is a surefire way to add texture and interest without going overboard with pattern. In which rooms does it work best? Bedrooms, dining rooms, and foyers are our favorite places to use grasscloth. Avoid installing it in bathrooms and kitchens, where steam can cause damage.
We especially love the luxurious and cozy feel it lends to master bedrooms.
The larger the space, the more refined the texture should be – look for tighter weaves with less variation to prevent a room from looking too busy.
Bonus: Eco-friendly! Most grasscloths are made from natural, renewable materials – making them biodegradable and healthier for your home (no off-gassing).

We had a fantastic foyer with grasscloth a few years back and have been missing it ever since. The subtle variation to the natural material and the breaks between panels are so appealing in their honesty. It’s not a wallcovering for the ultra fussy! Unfortunately, our resident cat Mao Mao could never get enough of trying to climb up the wall, so cat lovers beware! It’s easily misinterpreted as an enormous scratcher.
